International Student Issues
As events throughout the world encourage increased global interdependence, increasing numbers of international students are attending Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. International students require a constellation of support services and information to be able to participate fully in higher education in Minnesota.
The Student Affairs Division of the MnSCU System Office provides technical assistance on best practices, policy and legal compliance for international students. Dr. Steven Frantz is the System Director who coordinates these services.
Insurance for International Students
Each college and university should adopt the following policy for international students:
"All
international students and visiting scholars engaged in educational
activities are required to purchase the Minnesota State Colleges and
Universities international student accident and illness insurance plan,
unless they can provide written verification that their government or
sponsoring agency accepts full responsibility for any medical claims
that might occur."
