Workforce of the Future -- Manufacturing
The goal of Workforce of the Future is to create regional prosperity and community success through enhanced services and expanded outreach to Minnesota businesses.
Using a strategy that focuses on future workforce needs in and of the manufacturing sector, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is working to develop capacities that promote economic development through a comprehensive and innovative approach. This approach works to leverages existing advantages and capacities within our system to serve businesses through customized training, responsive academic programs and services, and the centers of excellence.

"Make It! In Manufacturing" was a statewide campaign by the Manufacturing Educators Coalition (MEC) designed to raise awareness about the manufacturing technology industry – with the hopes of attracting more people to manufacturing technology careers. This campaign was in response to the workforce shortages of the late 1990's. "Make It!" served as a resources for businesses, educators, parents and students by providing classroom speakers, facility tours, career fairs, job shadows, apprenticeships and a variety of other career-related activities.

According to DEED’s website, Manufacturer’s Week works to recognize and promote the importance of manufacturing to the state’s economy. It’s facilitated by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, and the Minnesota Manufacturing Coalition.
Overall, Manufacturer’s Week is designed to showcase the diversity of Minnesota’s manufacturing industry and to increase legislative and public awareness of the importance in providing high-wage, high-skill jobs for our communities.
